VOSS was founded in Milan in 1998 by Erik Voss, a Swedish architect who had spent twelve years designing buildings before realising he was more interested in the clothes people wore inside them.
His first collection was twelve pieces. He sold them from a single room on Via Montenapoleone, by appointment only. Every piece was made by hand in workshops within walking distance of the store. He knew the name of every person who made every item. He still does.
Twenty-six years later, the fundamentals have not changed. Every garment is still made by hand. The mills are still the same mills. The architects of each new store are always chosen for what they have already built, not what they promise.
The clothes are designed to be worn every day for the rest of your life. That has always been the only brief that mattered.
